Ragi idli recipe
Ragi idli recipe is famous Indian healthy breakfast meal
This recipe mostly made by South Indian household for healthy breakfast and this ragi idli serve with coconut & ginger chutney and sambar mostly famous in South India
It is also known as traditional breakfast recipe
Ingredients for Ragi idli recipe
- 1and ½ cups of ragi /finger millets
- ½ cup of idli rice/ brown rice
- ¼ cup of urad dal /white lentils
- ¼ tsp of methi /Fenugreek seeds
- Water
- Poha
- Salt to taste
Making process for idli batter (Ragi idli recipe)
- In to a bowl add 1and ½ cups of ragi /finger millets
- Add ½ cup of idli rice/ brown rice
- ¼ cup of urad dal /white lentils
- ¼ tsp of methi /Fenugreek seeds
- Wash it thrice with water
- Discard the water
- Soak it for 4 hours
- AFTER 4 HOURS
- Again wash it twice or thrice
- Soak poha for 5 minutes
- Transfer in to a blender by adding some water and soaked poha
- Blend into a coarse paste
- No need of very smooth paste
- Now transfer into a bowl
- Add 1 tsp of salt
- Mix it well with your hand
- Cover and let it ferment for 10 hours at room temperature
- After it fermented well
- Gently mix it for few seconds
- You can even make dosa with this batter
- Making process of idli
- Grease idli plates with oil
- Fill idli plates with batter
- Place them in idli cover or kadhai by adding some water
- Close the lid and cook on medium heat for 10 mins
- Now they are perfectly cooked
- Leave it for few seconds
- And remove idli from the plates
- Now our soft& spongy tasty Ragi idli is ready
- Serve with coconut & ginger chutney or sambar
