Turkish delight / lokum recipe is a classic gelly candy made by  sugar , lemon juice, corn flour, vanilla essence,rose water, powdered sugar,pink food colour, cream of tartar

Ingredients  for Turkish delight lokum recipe 

 

  • 4 cups of sugar 
  •  water 
  • 2 teaspoon lemon juice 
  • 1&1/4 cup of corn flour 
  • 1 tsp of cream of tartar 
  • Vanilla essence or rose water 
  • Pink food colour 
  • Oil ,ghee
  • Powdered sugar 

 

Instructions: step by step 

 

  • Take  4 cups of sugar  in a pan /  kadhai
  • add 1 & ½ cups of water / my 1 cup measure 200 ml
  • 2 tea spoon of lemon juice 
  • put this pan on heat 

      Stir it well

  • bring it  to a boil 
  • bring sugar syrup to soft ball consistency , to check the consistency 
  • drop some  sugar syrup  in cold water ,if it comes together 
  • switch off the flame 
  • now take  1 cup of corn flour in a pan
  • add 1 tsp of cream of tartar 
  • 3 cups of water 
  • mix it with out lumps 
  • now put this pan on heat, stir continuously  until it becomes thick paste
  • now slowly and gradually pour sugar syrup little by little by stirring constantly 
  • stir it well in low flame 
  • now cook it on very low flame for 40 45 mins by stirring frequently 
  • cook until mixture turns into golden colour 
  • now switch off the flame 
  • add 1 tsp of vanilla essence or rose water 
  • few drops of pink food colour 
  • mix it well 
  • take any mould apply oil  or ghee well and line with parchment paper 
  • carefully pour  prepared mixture 
  • let it set for overnight 
  • take ½ cup of powdered sugar  in bowl 
  • add ¼ cup of corn flour  , mix it well 
  • now sprinkle some flour mixture  on clean surface 
  • cut into pieces with the help of pizza cutter or knife 
  • coat each piece with the powdered sugar mixture 
  • Toss them well in powdered sugar mixture 

      

               Ready to serve
